Bereavement Ministry
The loss of a family member, spouse, friend or other loved one is a particularly challenging time of life. Our Christian faith and the community of faith come into play in these times in a special way.
Our pastoral staff and care team ministries are involved in and available for bereavement care.
The First Baptist Bereavement Support Team sends letters to those who’ve experienced loss each Lenten and Advent Season, as well as cards as follow-up care throughout the year.
Another means of care happens through a four-part series of books called Journeying Through Grief, sent to bereaved households at various points in the year following their loss.
This group also sponsors an occasional Widows/Widowers Tea that is well-attended and appreciated.
Funeral Dinners & Receptions are another ministry offered for family of members at the time of loss.
Wings for the Journey is a bereavement support group that helps grieving parents and family members cope with the loss of a child. This group will continue to meet but at it’s new location:
Our Hospice of South Central Indiana
2626 E. 17th St.
Columbus, IN
Wings for the Journey will continue to meet on the third Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. For more information call (812) 378-0955.
